The mission of the project is to provide new and gently used shoes to children living in developing countries including Mexico, Ecuador,Uganda, the Congo, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, El Salvador, Columbia, and Senegal. Children whose feet are exposed to soil are more susceptible to the hookworm parasite that enters the host through the barefoot. Once it enters the body it works its way to the organs via the bloodstream. Hookworms multiply and feed on the human host. Children already too poor to afford sufficient daily food intake, develop anemia.
New and gently used shoes are generously donated to the Walk In My Shoes Global Project by families with children who have outgrown their shoes and people who purchase new shoes in an effort to make a difference.
Children shoes are a a luxury in many countries around the world. Millions of them don't own a single pair. Others share their shoes with family members. By cutting a hole at the toe of the shoes they are converted into one size fits all.
